Romi Mayes

Juno nominated, Canadian Folk Music Awards nominated,
& 6 time Western Canadian Music Awards winner.

If you haven’t heard Romi Mayes’ music yet, it’s time you do.

Hailing from the prairies of Canada, Mayes is one of the hardest working independent musicians touring the globe today.

Having just released her 7th album, “Small Victories”, which she also sat as producer for, Mayes has become a household name in the international music scene. Mayes is also known for her relentless  endeavors to support artists in the Manitoba and Canadian music industry through the path she has paved for herself - most prominently with her role as Senior Event Producer for the company she has helped to develop, Curbside Concerts Canada.

Mayes has garnered three Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, two Western Canadian Music Awards for Album of The Year, one for Blues Artist of The Year, a Juno nomination for Album of the Year, and various other Canadian Music Award nominations.

Over two and a half decades, Romi Mayes has toured Canada, US, Europe, UK, and has shared the stage with the likes of Levon Helm, Derek Trucks, Ricky Skaggs, Billy Joe Shaver, Tom Cochrane, John Hiatt, Jim Cuddy, Guy Clark, Sue Foley, and many more.

Now, after a 9 year recording hiatus and with the release of her long awaited 7th album "Small Victories", Mayes and her phenomenal band will once again take her sweet and raspy vocals and fine tuned edgy songwriting to stages across the globe.

With no intention of burning out or fading away, Romi Mayes has proven she is here to stay.

NEW VIDEO

CAN'T STOP ME NOW

To celebrate the launch of her first full-length album release in nine years, Romi shares the video for the LP’s second single Can’t Stop Me Now. The straight-ahead roots/blues rocker is a redemption anthem, and that narrative is mirrored in the video. “Can’t Stop Me Now depicts a deadbeat dad letting down his kid,” says Romi. “Though the song tells my personal story, the story told in the video is more of a cinematic and artistic way of expressing that no one can bring you down. And how it’s in their face when you can overcome adversity in life and come out on top with your chin held high. That our big self can be proud of the small self we carry through and rise above it.”

'C'mon Baby' is the lead single from Romi's new album Small Victories released June 28th. On this track, Romi borrows from Tom Petty's Honey Bee, creating a sexy, seductive song about what goes on in your mind when you want someone but choose to say nothing.
